DIY Farmhouse China Cabinet Make-Over

June 24, 2021

DIY farmhouse China cabinet make-over. I was so proud of it, I wanted to share it with all of you!

I bought this cabinet about 3 years ago off of fb yardsale. I’d always dreamed of having one and I was so happy when I finally found one within my price range.

This week I decided to give it a face lift and apply my dry brushing skills to it. I love the old, antique farmhouse finished look and I’ve used this method on other large pieces of furniture in my house. It was actually my sister who taught me about this method.

How To Easily Paint Your Own China Cabinet

I love it because its simple and relatively easy to apply. I didn’t even sand this but you can do that if you like. All you need is some white, acrylic, latex paint and a good brush and a light sanding paper if you prefer.

It took less than half a quart of paint for this cabinet. I used the Royal brand of paint in eggshell white. Make sure its latex paint and not oil-based.

Its called dry brushing for a good reason. You want to keep your brush as dry as possible. Dip lightly in paint and apply to surface, making sure there are no runs. You don’t want to put it on thick.

It might take some practice but once you did it one time its very easy. I’ve also used it a lot to paint old worn out picture frames, giving them a fresh look. After you’re done painting its a good idea to let it cure for a day or two so it doesn’t chip or break.

Happy painting! 😁
