About

Hello I'm Kristina!

Southern born and raised, I am now a proud citizen of beautiful Northwest Montana. My husband, Jabel, and I live on our dream property right at the foot of the majestic Cabinet Mountains, along with a Siberian husky - Bridger, and a cat - Oliver. We also have a small scale, free-range chicken farm, that provides us and our local residents with fresh eggs.

I have always loved animals and working on the land. Most of my childhood was spent on an 89 acre farm, where I developed my passion for farming, homesteading and bird-watching.

One of my favorite quotes is "If you take care of the land, the land will take care of you."

I am all about being as self-sufficient as possible. Eating my own healthy recipes with food from the land is, to me, one of life's greatest rewards. Any visit to the grocery store will usually find me in the organic section, and I keep our pantry stocked with healthy snacks and ingredients that are good for you.

Among other things, I have a passion for writing, poetry, and photography. All of them are ways I bring expression and creativity into my daily life.

About The Homesteading Honey

My husband and I always dreamed of having our own land, raising a family on a farm, and having that homestead life.

In 2017, we became managers/caretakers of Legacy Lodge, a gorgeous vacation rental property with panoramic views of the Cabinet mountains.

We purchased an adjoining property, and began building our own "Little House In The Big Woods" Soon after we moved in, we bought a flock of chickens, and our dreams of our own little farm started to come true.

But the best part - I was thrilled to finally be able to have my own garden!

Together, we spend a lot time putting to practice all the things we learned growing up: gardening, preserving, and how to become good stewards of the land.

My Vision For "The Homesteading Honey"

Have I mentioned that I love to write? Not only is writing a creative outlet for me, but there's something about putting things down on paper that makes things seem more concrete. And if I can write things down, then that also gives me opportunity to share in a way that others can benefit and be blessed.

So why not a blog, where I can be creative, AND bless others at the same time?

Win-win, right? I thought so! Homesteading is my life. Jabel's favorite pet name for me is Honey. Put it together - And The Homesteading Honey was born!

I am excited to share with you tidbits from my daily life, whether it's gardening, farming, recipes, and a lifestyle with a good balance of nutrition and fun. And of course my photography, poetry and stories as well.

My hope is to inspire and encourage YOU to living your best life - in simplicity, confidence and joy!
